How do I purchase a Discovery Experience?
Send the excitement of a Discovery Experience in just three easy steps:
- Select. Browse our catalog of experiences or use the Gift Finder to search by category, recipient and/or price. Or give them the gift of choice! Circle Choice Packages allow the recipient to choose from a selection of experiences grouped by price point rather than category.
- Purchase. Simply add the experience package of your choice to your shopping cart and then proceed to checkout. Orders can also be placed over the phone at 1.877.839.2483.
- Send. Enter your recipient, billing, and shipping information. You can also include a personalized message.
We handle the rest! Gifts can be sent via email, printed, or processed and shipped with delivery possible as early as the following day. Experiences are shipped in a keepsake Experience Gift Box that contains everything needed to redeem an experience including the Experience Card and Experience Card number.
What does Buy Now, Book Later mean?
Buy now, book later means that you do not need to select a booking date or the exact location of your experience at the time of purchase. Don't worry about schedules, your recipient books at their convenience - online or by phone - for dates that best suit them. And, all Discovery Experiences are exchangeable for any other experience, in any region available on http://discovery.excitations.com.
Why do I have to select a region to view or purchase a gift?
Gift experiences are offered at a wide range of locations, all within a 250 mile radius of each metropolitan area, or region. While a gift may be offered in multiple regions, the exact nature of the experience and the pricing may differ based on variables such as geography, duration and the experience description. To learn about the exact experience offered within a region, first choose the region. The gift will then be presented with region specific details including the regionally based pricing information.
What do Regions mean?
A region is an area within a 250 mile radius of a major city, such as Washington, DC , Boston or New York City.

What is a Circle Choice gift package?
Circle Choice Packages allow the recipient to choose from a diverse mix of expressly selected experiences grouped by price point rather than category. Circle Choice Packages are available in multiple packages to choose from, reasonably priced from $75 and up.
How do I purchase an experience or a Circle Choice package?
Simply add the experience or Circle Choice package you've selected to your shopping cart. Then, proceed to checkout where you will provide gift recipient details, billing and shipping information. Here, you will also have the option to include a personalized gift message inside the experience gift box, within the email or on the printed certificate.
What is delivered in the gift box?
The experience gift box contains everything the recipient needs to redeem an experience including – an experience description, booking details, special requirements, and the Experience Card. To view a sample gift box, click here.
Can I be reminded of my upcoming occasions?
Yes, we can help you remember your important dates. Simply create a Discovery Experiences account, where you can include all of your events and occasions under Gift Reminders by selecting 'Add or Edit Reminders.' You will receive reminder emails 21 days and 7 days in advance of your occasion.
Do I have to specify a date for the recipient to redeem their gift when purchasing an experience?
No, the gift recipient chooses the location convenient for them and selects their scheduling preferences when they redeem their Experience Card.
Is insurance offered for experiences?
No, insurance is not offered. All Discovery Experience Providers are required to maintain liability insurance as deemed commercially appropriate by their industry. Some may require the signing of a waiver, where appropriate, for their experiences.
Do I need to consider any restrictions before purchasing an experience?
Certain experiences are subject to minimum requirements regarding age, height, health or other factors. Information regarding these requirements is provided to the purchaser prior to checkout and to the recipient during booking confirmation. Discovery Experiences and our partner, Excitations, do our best to include any limitations or requirements relating to the service in the experience description. It is the responsibility of the recipient to comply with all necessary requirements. Cancellation of an experience after booking confirmation due to the inability to meet these requirements is nonrefundable.
Can I order multiple gifts?
Yes, you can order multiple gifts by selecting 'Add to Cart' as you browse through the site. During the checkout process, you will be given the opportunity to select the recipient and shipping address for each gift. You will also be able to personalize each gift with a different gift message, or select the option to include an identical gift message with each gift.
Can I personalize the experience gift package?
Yes, you can provide a personalized gift message during the checkout process. This message will be included on a beautiful gift card inside the experience gift box or contained within the email or printout. Additionally, you can insert a favorite 5x7 picture into the circle on the top of the box upon its receipt.
What payment methods are accepted?
Online payment for Discovery Experiences is made to Excitations via Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover credit cards, in addition to Paypal.
Can I track my order?
Yes, you can track the status of your gift orders by logging into "My Account." Here you will be able to the track the status of your gift orders. If you chose not to create an account during the checkout process, you will receive an email confirming your order and another email letting you know that your order has shipped.
